Hélène Le Corre, Soprano

Hélène Le Corre began her musical education in the Childrens' Choir of Radio France. She studied singing with Robert Dumé at the Paris Conservatoire and with Helena Lazarska at the Vienna Musik-Hochschule. She made her debut as Pamina for the Vienna "Mozart in Schönbrunn" Festival, a role she subsequently sang for the Aix-en-Provence Festival under Philippe Jordan as well as for the opera houses of Monte-Carlo, Lyon, Lisbon, Venice and the Edinburgh Festivals. Other signature roles include Titania (Midsummer Night's Dream, Britten) for Opéra National du Rhin and the Megaron in Athens (production by Robert Carsen), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice, Gluck) for Opéra National du Rhin, Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro) in Avignon, Sophie (Werther) for the Lisbon Teatro Nacional Sao Carlos (production by Graham Vick) and the title role in Purcell's The Fairy Queen in Bregenz.

 

Frequently asked in the baroque repertoire for the purity of her voice she has performed in concert and on stage with "Les Talens Lyriques" under Christophe Rousset's direction, among others in Leçons des Ténèbres by F. Couperin and Charpentier in the Easter Festivals Aix en Provence and Misteria Paschalia in Cracow, Mozart's Mitridate for Opéra National de Lyon and Decca Records, and in 17th century French and Italian Cantatas by Lully, Rameau, Monteclair, in Amour, Roxane and Zima in Les Indes Galantes by Rameau in Concertgebow Brüggen and Barbican London, in the Opera of Lausanne for Ascanio and Amore in La Didone by Cavalli, in the State Opera of Montpellier for Ippolito ans Aricia by Traetta. She sang the part of Asteria under Emmanuelle Haim in Tamerlano by Händel at the Opéra de Bordeaux and under Hervé Niquet the parts of Oberto in Alcina by Händel, Silvia in L'Isola Disabitata by Haydn at the Opéra National de Nancy, and Belinda in Dido and Enea at the Opera Royal de Versailles. She sang one of her favorite roles, Semele by Händel in the operahouses of Bern, Nice. She also sang Bellezza in Calixto Bieito's production of Handel's Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno in Bern

 

Other concert engagements include Mozart's Requiem with Emmanuel Krivine and the Orchestre National de Lyon, Volo di Notte (Dallapiccola) at the Paris Cité de la Musique under Marek Janowski's direction, and Berlioz's recently discovered Messe Solennelle with Fabio Luisi and the MDR Orchestra at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. For the Chaise-Dieu Festival in Auvergne Hélène Le Corre performed the title role in Caldara's oratorio Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo in a special staged adaptation, and Handel's l'Allegro il Penseroso ed il Moderato. She was invited by the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris for a recital of songs by Fauré and his contempories, and by the Autunno Musicale Festival in Como for a programme of French songs. She took part in the complete Bach Cantata cycle at the Vienna Konzerthaus. 

 

As a member of the solo ensembles of both Opéra National de Lyon and the Bern Opera Hélène Le Corre sang the roles of The Princess (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Nannetta (Falstaff), the title role in Janacek's Cunning Little Vixen, Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), Xenia (Boris Godunov), Sophie (Werther), Glauce (Medea), Cendrillon (Cendrillon, Massenet), Gilda (Rigoletto), Antonia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Adina (l'Elisir d'Amore), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Constance and Blanche (Dialogues des Carmélites), Valencienne (Lustige Witwe), Sandrina (La Finta Giardiniera) and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel).

 

Recent engagements have taken her to the Bordeaux Opera as Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites) as well as for the Mozart Requiem, to the Bern Opera for Bellezza (il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno, Haendel), to the Concertgebouw of Brugge and to the Barbican Center London for Les Indes Galantes, to the Nice Opera for Semele by Händel and Ännchen (Freischütz), to Opéra de Monte-Carlo for Clarice (Il mondo della luna), to concerts of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Stravinsky's Pulcinella with the Bordeaux-Aquitaine orchestra, to Nice as Eudoxie in Halevy's, on tour in France and Switzerland with the Ensemble Café Zimmermann for Bach's Cantatas 51 and 32, to Cracow and Aix en provence for Lecons des Ténèbres by Couperin with Les Talents Lyriques / Christophe Rousset, to the Athens Onassis Cultural Centre for Messiah, to the Linbury Theatre in London and Megaron Athens under George Petrou for the title role in Gluck's Il trionfo di Clelia (world première recording on MDG records).

 

Projects for the current and future seasons include Bellezza in Handel's Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at Staatsoper Berlin, Urbain in Les Huguenots by Meyerbeer and Glauce in Cherubini's Medea, both at the Nice Opera, Orlando at the Welsh National Opera, Gloire/Phénice/Mélisse in Armide by Lully at the Theater an der WienStabat Mater by Pergolesi with the North Nederland Orchestra...
